Women of the Armored Combat League by LadyArwynn16 Women of the Armored Combat League by LadyArwynn16
The first women to compete at the National tournament for the Armored Combat League. October 2013 in Springfield, IL. It is full contact, steel medieval combat sport.

"Armored Combat League (ACL) was founded to promote the development of the International Medieval Combat Federation (IMCF) in the United States (USA). After Team USA – Battle of the Nations debut in Poland 2012 it was decided a league would need to be formed. Also the ACL would need to recruit members for the USA team: USAKnights, however, its primary mission is the promotion and growth of steel combat in the USA using the historical medieval battles international rule set."

I think they look lovely, and I being as I know one of them very well id hate to say that I think you are a very small minded person "Retroborg" being a male who quite avidly participates in SCA and live steal fighting I have to say that I think that a woman who can don armour and go out there shoulder to shoulder with the best of them, then to watch them turn around and transform into a princess with a hand made gown. Gets my blood boiling more than any flight of fancy SciFi representation of amazon warriors you might prefer.. Though you probably should go look up Scythian....

best of luck to you Retroborg, in what ever you are looking for in life, it certainly is not here.

Thanks! I think we all really understood how well our armor worked and for what didn't we have an idea for tweaking or upgrading/downgrading to something different.

I'm thinking nothing tells you what works and what doesn't like going in and getting a good thumping lol.

That padding must be thick in order to be effective, I'd hate wearing that stuff in summer.

Thanks... I think we are all wearing gauntlets from different armorers. For myself, Im wearing borrowed ones that were made by Surly Anvil. Not sure of the other but I think one of the other gauntlets may be made by Grettir. I'm currently building, with the help of a friend who has an armor shop, a custom pair of finger gauntlets for myself and will wear finger shields with them. Pics of that later :)

Don't get me wrong, protective heavy plate armour is plain awesome, but women and armour just don't mix imo.

Sexist tools are pretty much the ultimate fail. Badass women in armor are badass.

How so? Did plate with Joan d'arc not work? Are we talking aesthetics or historical fact here? because your assertion cannot be based in the latter. a BASIC perusal of google will find you several manuscripts and effigies of females in armor. This is my favorite collection I found in the 30 seconds I took to look around:

Which alternative do you prefer, then?

Women staying out of this sport or women engaging in it without proper armor?

Thanks Wajakla.... I prefer to think women in armor and engaging in medieval combat as a worthy cause. If it makes us happy to do so and we actually wear armor that protects us then who can stop us? I need to ammend my photo details to include that the ACL is a full contact steel sport, so this isn't for the weak of heart.
